Types of microplates
Microplates are used to process many samples in a short time and is part of the optical system in a plate reader. The microplates used need to be of high quality and must match certain criteria to be acceptable. The criteria include the reflectiveness of the surfaces influencing the background readings as well as the efficiency of the light transmission to the instrument´s detector. Another important fact is the microplates ability to block light between wells to minimize crosstalk. We offer the following types of microplates:
24-well plates
Our 24-well plates are sterile and cell culture-treated and comes with a lid. They also come individually packed to ensure a sterile environment. They are available in 2 colors:
- 41081: white with a clear bottom that is suitable for luminescence. A white adhesive foil is strongly recommended for best performance and reduced crosstalk.
- 41082: black with clear bottom are suitable for fluorescence and absorbance. Using a black adhesive foil for fluorescence if reading from the top is recommended for best performance.
White 96-well microplates
Our white 96-well microplates are especially optimized for luminescence measurements. They are available in the following variants:
- 23300: white 96-well microplates, standard. Recommended for Luminescence, BRET, AlphaScreen®, TRF and HTRF®.
- 60705: White 96-well microplates with clear bottom are suitable for luminescence, BRET and absorbance measurements. Using a white adhesive foil is recommended for use in luminescence and BRET to minimize crosstalk is recommended for best performance.
- 51838: sterile, cell culture-treated, with lid, individually packed white 96-well microplates. Recommended for Luminescence, BRET, AlphaScreen®, TRF and HTRF®.
- 24910: sterile, cell culture-treated, with lid, individually packed white 96-well microplates with clear bottom. Suitable for luminescence and BRET. Using a white adhesive foil is recommended for use in luminescence and BRET to minimize crosstalk is recommended for best performance.
Black 96-well plates
Our black 96-well microplates have been tested to ensure optimal performance in fluorescence measurement. They are available in the following variants:
- 23302: black 96-well microplates, standard. Recommended for Fluorescence, FRET, TRF, HTRF® and FP.
- 55008: Black 96-well microplates with white wells that are recommended for luminescence and BRET but are also suitable for TRF, AlphaScreen® and HTRF®.
- 60706: These are black 96-well microplates with a clear bottom and are recommended for Absorbance. They are also suitable for Fluorescence, FRET and FP. Using a black adhesive foil is highly recommended for best performance in fluorescence, FRET and FP and to reduce crosstalk.
- 51839: These solid black 96 well plates are sterile, cell culture-treated and comes with a lid. They are individually packed to ensure a sterile environment. Recommended for Fluorescence, FRET, TRF HTRF® and FP.
- 38840: sterile, cell culture-treated, with lid, individually packed black 96-well microplates with clear bottom. Recommended for Absorbance; suitable also for Fluorescence, FRET and FP.
White 384-well microplates
Our white 384-well microplates have been tested to provide the best performance in luminescence, BRET, AlphaScreen®, TRF and HTRF®.
