Distinctive. Modern. Friendly.
What began 75 years ago as an inconspicuous inn on the banks of the River Enz has now developed into a modern corporate complex. Maintaining and developing the site requires not only new buildings, but also regular conversions and extensions.
As part of the modernization of the company's development center, the building, which was constructed in 1974, was completely gutted and adapted to today's technical and energy requirements. The project was carried out by Aescht & Berthold Architects under the direction of Fabian Berthold.
The development center is located directly at the river Enz, which divides the site into two parts. These are connected by a bridge. The new façade, made of anodized aluminium sheet in a light bronze tone, blends in sensitively with the surroundings. The company's commitment to quality and precision is reflected in the building's fine details.
The office floors were also completely redesigned, as their structure and design largely reflected the concepts of the 1970s. Today, workstations are arranged in open bays on both facades. They frame the communicative heart of the development department with prototype construction and meeting rooms.
Berthold's company restaurant is located on the top floor of the building. This is where employees from all the departments spread across the extensive site meet. The restaurant and meeting rooms were extensively clad with acoustic panels made of silver fir, whose warm tone contrasts with the clear office spaces and creates a regional reference to the northern Black Forest.
On sunny days, the roof terrace in front of the building is not only a great place to enjoy meeting breaks, but also for lunch. From here you have a wonderful view of the Black Forest. Local cherry and apple trees as well as vegetables and herbs were selected for the planting.
